August 8, 2024

On the 307th day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", the occupation municipality forced the Badran family to self-demolish their home in the Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan, and the occupation authorities expelled the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, from Al-Aqsa for a period of 6 months. The settlers’ incursions into Al-Aqsa continued, and the forces continued to storm neighborhoods and towns in the city of Jerusalem.

Demolition of the Badran family in Silwan

The occupation municipality forced the Badran family to self-demolish their home in the Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan, to avoid paying financial fines "demolition fees for the municipality's crews, vehicles and accompanying forces."

Badran explained that the family received the first demolition decision for the house in 2018, then the decisions, prosecutions and fines followed, until the final demolition decision was issued without the possibility of objecting to it.

Raed Badran explained that his sister Raeda received the demolition decision after finishing paying the imposed fines. The house has an area of 40 square meters, and 6 people live in it.

Badran said: "There is no room for construction and expansion in the Al-Bustan neighborhood, and what we demolished is a small home, and despite that, the violations were imposed and the demolition decision was issued and we were forced to implement it."

Expelling Sheikh Ekrima Sabri

The occupation authorities deported Sheikh Ekrima Sabri - head of the Supreme Islamic Council, preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque and member of the Endowment Council - from Al-Aqsa for 6 months, on the background of "mourning the martyr Ismail Haniyeh during his sermon".

The occupation forces arrested Sheikh Sabri last Friday from his home in the Al-Sowaneh neighborhood in Jerusalem, and interrogated him for several hours about "mourning Sheikh Ismail Haniyeh" in Al-Aqsa and the worshipers' takbeers during that, then released him on condition of expulsion for a week, and today the decision was renewed for 6 months.

The Endowment Council condemned the deportation of Sheikh Sabri, stressing its firm position based on the right of Muslims alone to the mosque with its area of 144 dunoms, and no one has the right to deprive any Muslim from accessing the mosque, praying in it and performing his religious and legal duty.

Al-Aqsa raids

Settlers' raids on Al-Aqsa continued, and 200 settlers carried out their raids into Al-Aqsa during the morning and afternoon incursion periods, and performed prayers inside it.

The raids on towns and neighborhoods in Jerusalem continued, and arrests continued in the city, and the center monitored the arrest of 8 arrests, including a girl.
