October 4, 2024

On the 364th day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", two settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque on Friday afternoon, while the occupation authorities prevented thousands of worshipers from entering Al-Aqsa to perform prayers, and assaulted and pushed some of them.

A serious violation and an unprecedented act for settlers in Al-Aqsa Mosque

Before the afternoon call to prayer, two settlers "in religious clothing/ tallit" stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, through Al-Qattaneen Gate - one of the gates of Al-Aqsa located on the western side of it- and waslked from it towards the square between the Al-Qibli and Al-Marwani prayer halls, on the southern side of Al-Aqsa, and during their walk they prayed and then blew the trumpet and prostrated on the ground.

Blowing the trumpet "shofar" comes on the occasion of the “Jewish New Year" in reference to "sovereignty over the place".

As for the special forces and police, they stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque and walked towards the settlers who stormed Al-Aqsa, and took them out of it and confiscated the trumpet from them, knowing that they had finished their prayers.

The forces shouted at the worshipers - who were present in Al-Aqsa and rushed to know what was happening.

According to monitoring and documentation, over the past years, of settlers' violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque, they blew the trumpet during the years "2021/2022/2023/2024", in addition to blowing it on several occasions in the Bab Al-Rahma Cemetery and at the gates of Al-Aqsa from the outside, in addition to daily and continuous blowing in Al-Buraq Square.

The center explained that during the current year, the settlers blew the trumpet on October 3rd, "during the morning incursions period, and on October 4th, on the occasion of the "Jewish New Year", in addition to blowing the trumpet at the beginning of the last Hebrew month on "4/9".

Today's violation and its seriousness is represented by storming Al-Aqsa on Friday and through Al-Qattaneen Gate "noting that the storming of Al-Aqsa - under the supervision of the occupation authorities - takes place weekly, with the exception of Fridays and Saturdays of each week, and also takes place through dung Gate, whose keys have been controlled by the occupation authorities since the occupation of Jerusalem.

Suppression, assault and beating

Coinciding with the Noon “call to prayer” and the Friday sermon, the occupation forces stationed at all the gates of Al-Aqsa and the gates of the Old City prevented many worshipers from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque.

According to the monitoring of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, the forces suddenly closed the iron barriers placed at the gates of Al-Aqsa and the Old City "Lions, Herods, and Damascus gates", and prevented worshipers from entering Al-Aqsa, and the ban included women, boys, young men and the elderly.

At Lions Gate - the gate of the Old City - the forces assaulted the worshipers who gathered in large numbers after being prevented from entering Al-Aqsa, pushed and beat them, and evacuated the area by force, and pursued them towards "Bab al-Rahma Cemetery, the Yusufiya Cemetery, and Lions Gate Road, and prevented any gathering near the place.

At the gates of Al-Aqsa, several attacks were recorded on young men while preventing them from entering Al-Aqsa and pursuing them to remove them from its surroundings.

Prayers in the streets

In the vicinity of the Old City, young men performed prayers "at the closest point they could reach" after being prevented from entering Al-Aqsa and were forcibly removed from it.
