Day 370 Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
October 10, 2024

On the 370th day of "Al-Aqsa Flood” operation, it was announced that “UNRWA” land in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem was confiscated. On the eve of “Yom Kippur,” tens of thousands of settlers stormed the Al-Buraq Wall (the Western Wall) of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and hundreds of settlers stormed Al-Aqsa during the two periods of incursions. The occupation forces stormed the home of the martyr Ali Al-Abbasi in Silwan “on the first anniversary of his martyrdom.”

The UNRWA’s headquarters…in the wind

The “Israel Land Authority” announced on its website the confiscation of the land on which the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) is located in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, to build a settlement that includes 1,440 housing units.

Last May, the occupation authorities demanded that UNRWA vacate its main headquarters in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood under the pretext of “using the land without the approval of the Israel Land Authority.” The Israeli authorities also decided to force the agency to pay 27 million shekels “in late rent for the years in which it used the property and consider it debts owed by the agency.” During the war on the Gaza Strip, the campaign of incitement against UNRWA has been escalating for several months, and voices have been raised to close it and stop its funding. The occupation authorities claimed that a number of the agency's employees were involved in the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation, and some countries stopped funding it based on that claim.

Meanwhile, the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Security Committee approved a "draft law aimed at cutting relations between Israel and UNRWA", and it is expected that this law will be put to a final vote in the "second and third" readings during the coming week. The Knesset also approved classifying the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as a "terrorist organization".

During the past months, settlers have incited against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), calling for the closure of its headquarters, the evacuation of its premises, and the cessation of its activities. Settlers have also held repeated sit-ins in front of the agency’s headquarters in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, demanding its closure under the title “Jerusalem will not be Gaza.”

Tens of thousands of settlers desecrate Al-Buraq and Al-Aqsa

Settlers in large numbers stormed the Al-Buraq Wall (the western wall of Al-Aqsa), and performed prayers on the eve of Yom Kippur, amidst the closure of the main streets surrounding the “Dung Gate” area in order to allow settlers to reach the Al-Buraq Wall, which caused traffic jams in the city’s streets.

During the two periods of storming Al-Aqsa “morning and afternoon,” 334 extremists stormed Al-Aqsa, and performed collective and public prayers inside Al-Aqsa.

Storming the house of the martyr Ali Al-Abbasi

The occupation forces and intelligence raided the house of the martyr Ali Al-Abbasi several times in the Ein Al-Lozeh neighborhood in Silwan, and threatened his family members with arrest in the event that "more than two people gathered in the house." The forces also stationed themselves at the door of the martyr's house and prevented anyone from going to his house.

It is worth noting that the martyrs Ali Al-Abbasi and Abdul Rahman Farroukh were martyred a year ago during clashes in the town of Silwan, and the occupation authorities continue to detain their bodies.

In the evening hours, the forces stormed the Bi’er Ayoub neighborhood in the town, and threw bombs randomly in the streets.
