Day 390 Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
On the 390th day of "Al-Aqsa Flood” operation, the Jerusalem Governorate revealed that the occupation authorities have leveled lands in the village of Umm Tuba, south of Jerusalem. The occupation police also announced that they have submitted a request to obtain a building permit for a "police building" inside the Old City of Jerusalem, and the raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque continued.
"Land Leveling" in the Village of Umm Tuba
The Jerusalem Governorate revealed that the occupation authorities have leveled lands in the village of Umm Tuba, south of Jerusalem, and registered them in the name of the "Jewish National Fund".
The Jerusalem Governorate explained in a statement that the residents of the village of Umm Tuba submitted a petition to the court to stop the leveling of their lands, which was carried out without their knowledge, notification or involvement in the matter.
The governorate explained that the occupation authorities have registered about 63 dunoms in the name of the "Jewish National Fund", and this measure threatens to evacuate about 30 Jerusalemite homes, in which 139 citizens live, which puts them at risk of forced displacement.
The governorate indicated that one of the citizens discovered these procedures when he applied for a building permit from the occupation authorities, and was surprised at the time that the land on which he intended to build was registered in the name of the “Jewish National Fund.” After investigation, it became clear that similar seizure operations included dozens of dunoms of the village’s lands.
The governorate explained, based on the testimony of attorney Yazid Qa’war, who represents the residents along with attorney Mohammad Dahla, that the land registration operations were carried out without informing or involving the citizens. Qa’war added that the occupation authorities relied on what is known as the "Israeli Land Settlement Law", which is increasingly used to seize the lands of Jerusalemites and hand them over to settlement entities.
A "police" building a few steps away from Al-Aqsa Mosque
The occupation police published an announcement about its intention to build a "police building" on Al-Wad Street inside the Old City of Jerusalem, and the police requested the competent authorities to obtain the necessary permits to begin construction of the building.
According to the announcement that the police hung in the Old City, "In accordance with the decision of the security facilities held on 8/10/2024, in the offices of the Security Facilities Committee in Jerusalem, an application was submitted to obtain a building permit in the Islamic Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem.”
The announcement explained that the plan is to build a 3-storey police building on a plot of land devoid of buildings.
Samir Abu Sarhan…A victim of the settlers and the police
Last Tuesday evening, various media outlets were abuzz with news of a "run-over operation" in the settlement of "Armon Hanatziv" in Jabal Al-Mukabber in Jerusalem, and published news of two injuries and large forces storming the place, but the police quickly retracted their statements that it was a "traffic accident and not an operation", but the young man Samir Abu Sarhan was the victim of an attack by 4 settlers who brandished weapons at him and a victim of the police who arrested him and extended his detention until Friday.
Attorney Amir Masarwa explained that what happened to his client Abu Sarhan was an unfortunate event, as the "false and unconfirmed" news was initially published that it was an operation, but after examining the matter, what was not announced later was that Samir was the victim of the barbarity attack of 4 settlers after they initially harassed his brother who was in the street, and when Samir arrived at the place to check on his brother, the settlers in their vehicle crashed into Samir's vehicle and one of the settlers got out of the vehicle and brandished a weapon towards Abu Sarhan and threatened him, so Abu Sarhan fled the place immediately.
Attorney Masarwa explained that his client is under arrest and his detention was extended until Friday, while no settler was arrested.
Al-Aqsa raids
164 settlers raided Al-Aqsa Mosque during the morning and afternoon incursion periods, under the protection of the occupation forces.
Administrative detention
The occupation authorities transferred the young Jerusalemite Murad Alayan to administrative detention for 6 months "for the third consecutive time".
The raids on towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem continued, as did the setting up of checkpoints and searching of young men.
Release
The occupation authorities released the Jerusalemite lawyer Mohammad Alayan, 70 years old, from Jabal al-Mukabber after completing his one-year sentence on charges of "incitement" regarding posts and writings on "Facebook".
Signs of fatigue and exhaustion were clearly visible on the Jerusalemite lawyer Mohammad Alayan, due to his exposure to difficult detention conditions and being denied medication. He is in need of medical follow-up and treatment today.
The freed prisoner and Jerusalemite lawyer Mohammad Alayan is a human rights activist who was arrested more than once and spent several years in prison. His house was demolished and he is prevented from using it after his son Baha was martyred. He was one of the most prominent activists in the campaigns to "hand over the bodies of the martyrs whose bodies are being held".
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem explained that lawyer Mohammad Alayan lost two family members during his detention: "the martyr Ahmad Alayan - his nephew" in December and the child martyr "Wadi’ Alayan", his nephew's son" last February. The authorities continue to detain the two bodies.
On the other hand, the court in Haifa issued a prison sentence against the freed Jerusalemite prisoner Fadwa Hamadeh for two years, noting that she was released in the exchange deal last year.
