Demolition in Silwan

The occupation municipality forced the Al-Tawil family to self-demolish warehouses in the Al-Bustan neighborhood in the town of Silwan.

Yousef Al-Tawil said that the municipality issued a final demolition decision for the warehouses, under the pretext of building without a permit.

Al-Tawil explained that the land, which is one dunom in size, has been owned by the family since 1981 and was a bus stop. Since 2000, aluminum roofs have been installed on it and it has been turned into warehouses.

Al-Tawil said that the family was forced to carry out the demolition after the final demolition decision, without any possibility of freezing or postponing the decision.

Assault and arrest…

The Jerusalemite boy Ahmed Abu Nab, 16 years old, was injured in his eye after being severely beaten while he was in the Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood in the town of Silwan.

The boy, Abu Nab, is in Shaare Zedek Hospital to undergo eye surgery after his retina and cornea were damaged.

Ahmed Abu Nab, said that he went with his uncle and grandmother to Ras al-Amoud neighborhood last Thursday after they were informed of the assault on his younger brother. When he arrived at the scene, he saw his brother being detained after being beaten. He tried to reach him to find out what was happening, but the forces assaulted him as well.

He said: "The soldiers assaulted me severely, with rifles and their feet. I tried to protect my face, but I felt severe pain in my eye, then I felt swelling and blood flowing from it."

The forces arrested the boy Ahmed Abu Nab after removing his uncle and hitting him with rifle butts on his chest.

Abu Nab said that the forces transferred him to the Salah al-Din Street police station and brought him an ambulance for an initial examination. It was found that he needed to be taken to the hospital due to the damage to his eye. The forces prevented his parents from accompanying him in the ambulance or knowing where he was being treated. The soldiers asked the family, who were outside the police station, to wait in the street until he was transferred to the hospital for treatment and then returned for investigation.

The forces transferred the boy to the "Shaare Zedek" hospital and put handcuffs on his hands and feet. He remained in treatment for 3 hours, until the doctor came out and informed the soldiers that he needed urgent surgery. At that time, the handcuffs were removed and the forces left the place. The soldier called his father, "who was waiting in front of the police station," and asked him to bring his son next Thursday for investigation.
