December 21, 2024

On the 442nd day of "Al-Aqsa Flood” operation, three families from the city of Jerusalem implemented the decisions to self-demolish their homes, to avoid paying fines, and the raids on the towns and neighborhoods of the city continued.

Jabal al-Mukabber

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem explained that Hani Shqeirat carried out the demolition of his home with his own hands "self-demolition/forced" in the village of Jabal al-Mukabber.

The Shqeirat family explained that the municipality issued the final demolition decision for an area of 80 square meters out of the total area of 130 square meters, and refused to license it, noting that it has been in existence for a year and two months.

Eight people live in the Shqeirat home.

Khader Shqeirat said that the family made a hole in the roof of the house, but the municipality insisted on the complete demolition process.

Silwan

In the Al-Bustan neighborhood in the town of Silwan, the Aqil family self-demolished their home.

Hisham Aqil said that the family was forced to implement the demolition order for the 60-square-meter house, to avoid causing damage to the rest of the building and paying the costs of the demolition to the municipality and the accompanying forces.

The house is home to 4 people.

Sur Baher

In the village of Sur Baher, the Atrash family was forced to self-demolish part of their house (50 square meters).

Jalal Atrash, his wife and two children live in the house.

On a daily basis, the occupation municipality distributes demolition orders in the towns and neighborhoods of Jerusalem, and forces Jerusalemites to self-demolish their homes and various facilities. To avoid imposing fines and violations on them, Jerusalemites are forced to carry out the demolition with their own hands (self-demolition).

The occupation authorities continued to storm the towns and neighborhoods of Jerusalem and set up checkpoints.
