Demolition and displacement

The occupation forces, accompanied by the municipality's crews and bulldozers, raided the village of Jabal al-Mukabber in Jerusalem, and surrounded two apartments belonging to Mrs. Widad Halaseh and her son Abdul Rahman Qaraeen, then carried out the demolition operation under the pretext of building without a permit.

The Halaseh family explained that Mrs. Widad was attending a court session in regards to the two apartments, while the municipality stormed the area and carried out the demolition operation, without the possibility of postponing the implementation of the decision or freezing it.

The family explained that the two apartments were built 13 years ago.

The municipality carried out the demolition operation on the contents of the two apartments, as the Halaseh family explained.

Meanwhile, the municipality's crews handed a demolition order to Shadi Sumrein. Sumrein said that he started the construction in 2014 and was issued a building violation, and he tried to obtain a building permit, but the municipality rejected the request.

Sumrein said that the municipality issued the final demolition decision, and that he will implement the decision and self-demolish it in order to avoid any damage to the family home, which was built before 1967.
