January 23, 2025

The occupation municipality forced the Ja’abis family to self-demolish their building in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber under the pretext of building without a permit.

Mohammad Ja’abis explained that the municipality issued a decision on 9/1/2025 to completely demolish the building, which includes 3 apartments and 2 commercial shops, each apartment is 150 square meters in area, and the commercial facility is 200 square meters in area.

Ja’abis said: "In 2005, 3 houses and the front of a commercial shop were demolished, and the demolition process was not completed at the time, and we restored the site and 30 people lived in the apartments, but the municipality returned and issued the demolition decision."

Ja’abis said that the family was forced to self-demolish today to avoid paying fines amounting to 100 thousand shekels in fines/demolition fees to the municipality and its accompanying crews.

The building consists of two floors, and the family was given until the beginning of next March to implement the demolition decision. The municipality also pursued the Ja’abis family for the two facilities by imposing taxes and fines.
