Clashes in Issawiya after attacking the funeral of released prisoner Nael Obeid
Hundreds of Jerusalemites bid farewell to the late freed prisoner Nael Obeid, 46, in the village of Issawiya on Sunday evening.
The occupation forces attacked the mourners with tear gas bombs while they were inside the Issawiya cemetery and during the burial of the freed prisoner Obeid.
The funeral of the freed prisoner Obeid proceeded through the streets of the village, and participants chanted slogans and “takbeers”.
The freed prisoner Obeid died yesterday, Saturday, after falling from the roof of the family building.
The forces stormed the village and the vicinity of the cemetery, and attacked the mourners with bombs and rubber bullets, which led to the outbreak of clashes in the village.
After the burial, the forces stormed the cemetery and positioned themselves around the grave of the freed prisoner Obeid, and prevented access to it.
The Jerusalemite Nael Obeid was released last week 15/1/2025 in the sixth batch of the exchange deal, and served 21 years of his sentence of 7 life sentences and 30 years.
