Demolition of homes and agricultural facilities in Jerusalem
On Tuesday, the occupation bulldozers demolished three homes and agricultural and animal facilities in Jabal Al-Mukabber, Silwan and Issawiya.
Jabal Al-Mukabber
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem explained that large forces stormed the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber in the morning hours, raided the home of the Surri family, completely surrounded it, closed the roads leading to it, and then proceeded to demolish it.
The family explained that the house had been standing for about a year, and four people lived in it before it was demolished and they were displaced.
The area of the house is about 70 square meters.
The family confirmed that the area is located on a "building line" in the place, and they tried to submit requests to license the house, but the municipality refused, and decided to demolish it and then begin the licensing procedures.
Silwan…Al-Bustan neighborhood again
The municipality bulldozers demolished two homes consisting of "mobile caravans", belonging to the Rweidi and Ayed families.
The Rweidi and Ayed families placed mobile homes on their lands after their homes were demolished last November, with 4 homes belonging to the Rweidi family and one home belonging to the Ayed family being demolished.
In 2004, the occupation municipality decided to demolish the entire Al-Bustan neighborhood to implement the "King's Garden" plan on its ruins. In 2005, it began distributing demolition notices and warnings. After international pressure, local and international human rights organizations, and diplomatic activity, the demolition decisions were frozen.
The residents, through teams of engineers and lawyers, began submitting master plans to organize and develop the neighborhood, open streets, and allocate sites for infrastructure and public facilities such as schools and playgrounds. However, in March 2021, the residents were surprised by the occupation municipality's decision to reject the engineering plans for Al-Bustan neighborhood, and not to extend the freeze on the decisions to demolish the neighborhood's homes. Consequently, the municipality renounced all agreements with the relevant authorities and those following up on the plans.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that the municipality escalated the demolition operations in Al-Bustan neighborhood during 2024.
Issawiya
The occupation forces, accompanied by the forces, stormed the lands of the eastern region of the village of Issawiya, and spread out in the area, then began extensive demolition operations that included agricultural and animal barracks, cages, and greenhouses, in addition to the demolition of roads, chains, and soil.
The demolition operations were carried out against the property of several families, including: Abu Al-Hummus, Derbas, and Mustafa.
