Details - The child, Mays Mahmoud, was shot by a sniper in Issawiya
The 13-year-old Mays Mahmoud is in Hadassah Hospital after being shot by a sniper while playing on the roof of her house in the village of Issawiya in Jerusalem.
Mays was shot in the leg late Thursday evening while she was with her sister and her friend on the roof of her house.
Mahmoud Mahmoud, the girl's father, said that the necessary medical tests were conducted on his daughter, and they are awaiting the neurologist's report.
He explained that the doctors reported damage to the artery in her leg and that the nerves in her leg were affected.
Mahmoud added that his daughter was shot by the sniper, noting that after Mays screamed, her older sister rushed to see what was happening, and the sniper fired another bullet, but it passed near her sister without her being injured.
Mahmoud indicated that the incident occurred in the evening hours, when the forces stormed the "Mahmoud" neighborhood in Issawiya several times, and deployed in the area, and deployed snipers in several places.
Mahmoud pointed out that the forces returned to storm the village of Issawiya repeatedly, especially in the evening hours "from sunset until late evening," and confirmed that the sniper shot his daughter despite the absence of any clashes in Issawiya, as the residents were heading home after the end of the Tarawih prayers.
Mahmoud added that while his injured daughter was being transported to the hospital, the forces surrounded the vehicle, and the soldiers saw that she was injured and allowed her to pass to the hospital. Mahmoud said: "There is no safe place for the children of Issawiya, even in their homes they are targeted, and there is no place or yard for them to play."
