Demolition operations in Jerusalem
Demolitions continued in Jerusalem on the pretext of unlicensed construction.
On Wednesday, Israeli municipal bulldozers carried out demolitions in Silwan and Issawiya, after police and special forces stormed the two areas and sealed off the perimeter of the demolition sites.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem reported that municipal bulldozers stormed the Wadi Yasoul neighborhood in Silwan in the afternoon, where they surrounded a home belonging to the al-Ja'bari family and then proceeded to demolish it.
Hani al-Ja'bari said that the forces and municipal crews stormed his home without prior warning, after imposing a complete cordon around it and informing him of their intention to carry out the demolition.
He added, "They prevented me from removing the furniture and contents, and they removed some of them and destroyed the rest."
Al-Ja'bari lives in the house with his wife.
In the village of Issawiya, bulldozers demolished properties belonging to several families, including horse barns, stone fences, iron wire fences, and land leveling.
In the town of Beit Hanina, north of Jerusalem, the Obeidi family self-demolished their home themselves to avoid paying a fine (demolition fees paid to municipal crews and accompanying forces).
The family explained that the house's area is 80 square meters.
A week ago, Mahmoud Alayan carried out the demolition of his home in the village of Issawiya. The house has been standing for nine years and is home to four people.
