Hundreds of arrests in Jerusalem during "Emergency Week"… Targeting West Bank ID holders and Jerusalemites
Over the course of this week, and during the declared "state of emergency" due to the war between Israel and Iran, the arrest campaign in Jerusalem continued, targeting both Palestinians with West Bank ID cards and Jerusalemites.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem reported that occupation forces carried out hundreds of arrests of Palestinians with West Bank ID cards, under the pretext of "illegal entry or presence in the city." They also arrested Jerusalemites accused of transporting or providing assistance to Palestinians. Other arrests were recorded for celebrating rocket fire, participating in clashes, or launching firecrackers and Molotov cocktails.
In a statement today, the Israeli police said that over the past week, they arrested 300 Palestinians who "attempted to enter Jerusalem or cross the separation wall," in addition to 32 people suspected of providing assistance, including a woman.
From the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber, forces arrested four youths for allegedly throwing stones and Molotov cocktails.
In Shu’fat refugee camp, the Musta’ribeen individuals (undercover police) arrested two young men on Tuesday afternoon after attacking them while they were inside a vehicle.
Over the past few days, separate arrest campaigns have been carried out in several Jerusalem neighborhoods, including Silwan, Sheikh Jarrah, Al-Tur, Wadi al-Joz, the Old City, Shu’fat, Shu’fat refugee camp, and Issawiya. Most of the arrests were carried out under the pretext of "rejoicing over the arrival of Iranian missiles."
