Three Jerusalemite Boys Sentenced
August 12, 2025

Israeli courts have issued actual prison sentences against three Jerusalemite boys.

Mohammad Mahmoud, a lawyer at the Wadi Hilweh Information Center – Jerusalem, said that the Magistrate's Court sentenced two boys, Mohammad Fareed Obaid and Khaled Obaid from the village of Issawiya, to four and a half months in actual prison, in addition to a fine of 400 shekels and an eight-month suspended sentence for a period of three years.

The two boys were arrested in April 2025 and were released about a month later under house arrest. They later turned themselves in to the police and are currently being held in prison.

Meanwhile, the District Court yesterday issued an actual prison sentence against the boy Iyad Ashraf Deis from the town of Shu’fat, sentencing him to 3 years and 3 months.

Deis was arrested by occupation forces in March 2024. After several months, he was released under the conditions of house arrest and expulsion from Jerusalem to inside the Israeli-occupied territories, with an electronic bracelet to monitor his movements. At the time of his release, he was suffering from scabies and general weakness due to the harsh conditions of detention in the prisons.

In January of this year, Deis turned himself in again, and the final sentence was issued against him yesterday.
