Incursions and violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque…Administrative detention
August 31, 2025

Settler incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque continued, paralleling raids by occupation forces into towns and neighborhoods in Jerusalem.

178 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the morning and afternoon incursion periods, through the Dung Gate, whose keys have been controlled by the occupation authorities since 1967.

The settlers performed their prayers during the incursion, while a group of them held a singing and dancing session and performed religious rituals in the eastern area near the Bab al-Rahma prayer hall, opposite the Dome of the Rock. One of them placed tefillin—one of the holiest items in Jewish synagogues—before singing and celebrating a settler's wedding, led by a rabbi.

The scenes of bringing tefillin into Al-Aqsa Mosque and praying publicly have become a recurring phenomenon in recent months, indicating a dangerous escalation in violations.

In the same context, extremist "Temple" groups announced the organization of collective prayers (Selikhot) at Al-Aqsa Mosque. These prayers are prayers seeking forgiveness and mercy in preparation for the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) and the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur).

These groups published their schedule for the prayers on September 7 and 17, with the prayer scheduled to take place on September 14 around the gates of the Old City. According to the schedule, this year's prayers will be held inside Al-Aqsa Mosque at a time when they were previously held at the Al-Buraq Wall and inside synagogues, an unprecedented development. These prayers typically take place in the early morning or evening hours and are accompanied by the blowing of the shofar.

The occupation authorities transferred the Jerusalemite, Muhammad Waseem Obeid, from the village of Issawiya, to administrative detention for three months, after his arrest two weeks ago.

The occupation intelligence also summoned the freed prisoner, Hanadi al-Halwani, and issued her a travel ban until January 25, 2025. Meanwhile, the released prisoner, Murad Alayan, was summoned for investigation immediately after his release following the completion of his 22-month sentence (administrative detention). He was interrogated at the "Rooms 4" police station in West Jerusalem.
