September 30, 2025

Mahdi Mohammad Awad Diriya, 32, was shot by a settler on Monday after carrying out a car-ramming attack at Al-Khader junction on Route 60, south of Jerusalem.

Surveillance cameras captured a settler getting out of his vehicle and shooting directly at the young man as he was walking in the street. Other footage showed the young man carrying out the car-ramming attack at the scene.

The occupation authorities had previously announced Diriya's martyrdom, but a short while earlier (this evening) they announced he was "injured," later retracting the report of his martyrdom.

The General Authority of Civil Affairs stated that it had informed the Palestinian Prisoners' Affairs Authority, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, and the Ministry of Health of Mahdi Diriya's injury, describing his condition as moderate to serious.

Megn David Adom ambulance crews said that three people sustained minor to moderate injuries.

Israeli media reported that the perpetrator of the attack was from the town of Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem.
