Hit by five bullets before being arrested…extending the detention of Mahmoud Farroukh
October 8, 2025

During an "extension in absentia" hearing, the Israeli Magistrate Court extended the detention of 28-year-old Jerusalemite Mahmoud Farroukh for 10 days. He was shot by Israeli occupation forces after midnight in Wadi Hilweh neighborhood in the town of Silwan.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center-Jerusalem reported that Israeli occupation forces raided Farroukh's family home in the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood, searched it, and vandalized its contents.

The center added that the young man was shot five times, four in the legs and one in the back. He is still receiving treatment in the hospital.

The Israeli police claimed that the young man was injured after being pursued while driving and "refusing to stop." They claimed that he brandished a weapon at officers after exiting the vehicle, prompting them to shoot him before transporting him to the hospital.

After the shooting, the forces closed off the area surrounding the young man and prevented any residents from providing him with assistance.
