Raiding and surrounding homes
Occupation forces raided the homes of prisoners scheduled for release in the neighborhoods and towns of Jerusalem, including Sur Baher, the Old City, Shu’fat, and Issawiya, particularly those who had not been deported from the Palestinian territories. The forces searched the homes and asked residents not to gather or have anyone present except those residing in the home. These raids have been repeated several times in recent days.
The homes were surrounded for several hours, even after the release, with continued threats of force if the instructions were violated.
In the early morning hours, Israeli intelligence summoned the families of the Jerusalemite prisoners to the West Jerusalem Police Station, “Rooms 4”, and asked them to sign financial guarantees prohibiting gatherings, celebrations, or raising flags and fireworks. Israeli forces detained the Jerusalemite residents not included in the deportation orders and who were released inside Jerusalem from the al-Maskobyeh Police Station. They included al-Sabah, Abu Qteish, Mheisen, and Ajlouni. Meanwhile, prisoners Nabil Abu Khdeir, Omar Eid, and Ayman al-Kurd were released from Ofer Prison.
During the forces' raid on the village of Issawiya, coinciding with the release of prisoner Mheisen, they deployed throughout the village and randomly threw grenades.
On Sunday, the forces raided the home of the family of Jerusalemite prisoner Ayman al-Kurd. After searching and completely destroying the house, they assaulted the prisoner's brother, causing fractures to his foot and nose.
Procedures accompanying the release
The occupation forces transported each prisoner, along with a family member, to their home. Upon arrival, their handcuffs were removed, amidst a heavy siege and a large police presence around the home. The police prevented the prisoner from communicating or speaking with their relatives while they were in the intelligence vehicle, threatening to use force in the event of a violation.
The occupation intelligence took the Jerusalemite prisoner, Ajlouni, to his room and demanded that he remain there and not leave.
Additional restrictions on released prisoners
The intelligence summoned a number of released prisoners to appear next week to receive orders banning them from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for six months. Several of them were placed under house arrest for a week.
