Bulldozing a land and demolition of a commercial property belonging to the Tayem family on Al-Matar Street in Jerusalem
November 9, 2025

The Israeli municipality carried out a large-scale demolition and bulldozing operation on Sunday on a plot of land belonging to the Tayem family on Al-Matar Street in Jerusalem, without any prior warning, with the aim of constructing a new road on the site.

The family explained that municipal crews and bulldozers stormed the land in the early morning and began bulldozing and destroying all its contents, including demolishing shipping containers and removing everything on the ground. They also confiscated some equipment and belongings from inside the office.

The family added that a court hearing had been scheduled for early December to review the eviction and demolition order, but the municipality stormed the site today before the hearing and carried out the demolition without waiting for the court's decision, preempting the court date.

The family stated that the municipality claims the demolition is for the purpose of constructing a new road, "but there is no final plan or official approval for the project yet."

It is worth noting that the targeted land contains a commercial establishment that has been operating for 13 years, including a shipping container, an office, and a bus parking lot.
