Freeze orders exist only on paper, while bulldozers violate them and displace families in Issawiya and Jabal al-Mukabber
On Wednesday, Israeli occupation forces carried out a large-scale demolition operation in the village of Jabal al-Mukabber and its surrounding areas.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem reported that the forces, accompanied by municipal crews and bulldozers, stormed the village of Jabal al-Mukabber, surrounded the Mashahra family's homes, and blocked the roads leading to them.
Wassim Mashahra stated that the bulldozers carried out the demolition without prior warning, even though the licensing procedures were incomplete and a hold on the demolition order was still in effect. He added, "We were surprised by the raid while we were working, and we were not allowed to remove our belongings."
Mashahra reported that the bulldozers demolished his house and his brother Mahmoud's house, noting that construction had begun a year ago. He explained that the municipality had issued a stop-work order, but after appealing to them, they were allowed to continue construction and to seek the necessary permits. A hearing was scheduled for them after the holidays.
Rawabi Issawiya... Demolition and displacement
In the Rawabi Issawiya area of the eastern lands, bulldozers demolished four residential apartments and seven livestock and agricultural structures belonging to the Abu Rayaleh and Mustafa families.
The Abu Rayaleh family confirmed that the apartments had stood for over 60 years and that the forces stormed the site without prior warning, despite a 1983 Supreme Court ruling prohibiting the demolition. They noted that the demolition occurred near the grave of the late Haj Radi Nasif Abu Rayaleh, who had requested to be buried on his land to protect it from confiscation and to uphold the family's rights.
The Abu Rayaleh family reported that 25 people lived in the apartments.
The apartments and the agricultural and livestock structures are located near an army camp established on the village’s land.
