Jerusalem - Demolitions and demolition orders in Silwan... Expulsions from Al-Aqsa Mosque
January 26, 2026

The occupation municipality forced a Jerusalemite to demolish his own home in the Silwan neighborhood, as part of ongoing demolition and eviction orders affecting Palestinians in Jerusalem.

In the Wadi Yasoul neighborhood of Silwan, Jamal Ghaith was compelled to demolish his 100-square-meter house himself after an order from the Israeli municipality, which argued it was constructed without a permit. The house housed seven residents.

In Al-Bustan neighborhood, the Israeli municipality issued a demolition order to Ahmad Mahmoud Al-Abbasi for his 35-year-old house. They warned him of a 50,000 shekel "demolition fee" if he did not demolish it himself. Additionally, occupation authorities ordered the demolition of Jerusalemite Hatem Baydoun's 61-square-meter home, built in 1998.

Meanwhile, the campaign of summonses and expulsions from Al-Aqsa Mosque persisted into its second week, including a one-week expulsion order against Jerusalemite Yazan Khamis, which can be renewed, and a six-month expulsion order against Jerusalemite Moath Ahram.

The occupation police detained three journalists from the Palestinian 1948 lands after removing them from Al-Aqsa Mosque: Tamer Al-Kilani, Diaa Haj Yehya, and Samir Abdel-Hadi, accusing them of “filming inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
