Injuries and fractures in the Qaimari family members resulting from a violent raid on their homes in Silwan
Several members of the Qaimari family in the Silwan neighborhood sustained fractures, cuts, and bruises when Israeli occupation forces raided their homes in the Bi’er Ayoub area and assaulted everyone inside, including women, children, and the elderly.
Wissam Qaimari is currently in the hospital following back surgery due to injuries from the raid. Other family members sustained different bruises and abrasions.
Wissam Qaimari reported that last Wednesday evening, between 40 and 50 Israeli soldiers from various units, along with intelligence officers, raided the family's homes looking for his son, who was not there.
He added, "They refused to listen to our assurances that he wasn't there. They searched, pushed, shouted, hit, and hurled insults throughout the house. No one was spared—elderly, children, or women."
Al-Qaimari described how the soldiers assaulted him, beating him severely: “They struck my back with strong, repeated blows, causing such pain that I had to go to the hospital. There, it was found that I had a fracture in the third vertebra of my spine. I underwent surgery with screws inserted, and now I cannot move easily and need assistance."
Qaimari stated that during the attack, he was shouting and informing the soldiers about his pre-existing back pain. In response, a soldier threatened, "I'm going to break your back forever," and then continued the assault.
Qaimari stated that the assault included rifle butts, batons, kicks, and fists.
Qais Qaimari mentioned that his family was assembled on Wednesday evening when a large group of occupation soldiers raided the house and inquired about his nephew, Abd al-Salam.
He added, "Despite being told he wasn't there, the forces spread throughout the houses, onto the rooftops, and at the entrances, and began hurling insults at all of us, causing extreme panic among the children and verbally abusing the women."
He stated that a verbal disagreement happened prior to the soldiers starting the physical attack, explaining, "They assaulted everyone there, detained me in the courtyard, intentionally released a dog on me, and hit me on the head with rifle butts, injuring me."
The family confirmed that the raid and assault lasted over two hours, during which homes were vandalized and fear was instilled among children and women.
