Tzvi Sukot stormed the perimeter of the "Dar Al-Huda" school in the Shu’fat refugee camp, questioned its principal on field, and threatened to close it down
Extremist MK Zvi Sukot, head of the Knesset Education Committee, with a large security team of occupation police and border guards, stormed the grounds of Dar al-Huda School and Kindergarten in the Shu’fat refugee camp in Jerusalem.
This raid occurs amid an incitement campaign by certain Knesset members aimed at targeting and closing educational institutions in Jerusalem under the guise of security concerns.
A video released by Hebrew media showed a tense verbal exchange and on-site questioning by Sukot of the school's principal, Hamza al-Qaisi. The extremist MK aimed to directly accuse the principal of accepting funds and overseeing associations considered "banned" or connected to Islamic activities in Jerusalem by occupation authorities, like the Jerusalem Zakat Committee. During the interrogation, Sukot issued direct threats in a stern manner to the principal, stating:
Any educational institution connected to terrorist groups will be closed. If you fund a school in Jerusalem, you will not receive any state funding, and we will shut down that school soon.
The school principal responded to the Israeli provocation and threats with calmness, denying the allegations.
After Knesset Member Sukot's threats against the principal, he forcibly closed the school's main gate. In a video message, he addressed the settlers and the Israeli public, openly inciting against the school building and calling for its closure.
Sukot stated that the building was built and expanded with millions of shekels from funds provided by organizations labeled as "terrorist" by the occupation. He also announced his plan to leverage his role as head of the Education Committee to call an emergency Knesset session next week. The goal is to pressure the Ministry of Education and the municipality to stop all funding and financial support for the site and to issue an official order to close it altogether.
The raid on Dar al-Huda School in the Shu’fat refugee camp is not an isolated incident, but rather an extension of a series of provocative field visits led by Knesset Education Committee Chairman Zvi Sukut in recent weeks. In mid-May, Sukut led a raid on the Hebrew University campus in Jerusalem, deliberately targeting and preventing any activities organized by the Palestinian student movement to commemorate the Nakba. He also publicly incited against the students and the university administration, demanding that its funding be withdrawn.
His harassment extended beyond Jerusalem. During his June 4th visit to Tuba in the Galilee, he drew significant media coverage after being filmed with an electric saw, trying to cut locks and force his way into an Arab school after the administration had shut the doors and refused him entry.
The extremist Zvi Sukut assumed the chairmanship of the Knesset Education Committee at the end of 2015.
