Expulsions from Al-Aqsa and self-demolition displace two Jerusalemite families
Today, Israeli occupation authorities persisted in their actions against Palestinians in Jerusalem by issuing orders that prohibit them from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque and summoning them for questioning. Additionally, they compelled two Palestinian families in Sur Baher to self-demolish their homes, resulting in homelessness.
New expulsion orders from Al-Aqsa Mosque
Israeli intelligence issued Malik Mheisen, a young Palestinian man from Jerusalem, a six-month ban from Al-Aqsa Mosque, which was communicated to him through WhatsApp.
Israeli intelligence summoned Wissam Hamouda to the Al-Qishla police station in Jerusalem's Old City for questioning. He was questioned for about six hours and then released on the condition that he avoid Al-Aqsa Mosque for a week.
Hamouda was instructed to go back to the police station once the ban ends, and at that time, the restriction could be prolonged for several more months.
They allowed him to attend his father's funeral... then arrested him
Israeli occupation forces detained young Jerusalemite Jamil al-Abbasi in the Bab al-Asbat area on charges of violating the entry ban to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Last Saturday, Al-Abbasi entered Al-Aqsa Mosque to attend his father's funeral and burial, as permission was granted by the officer in charge due to the circumstances of the death.
Following his arrest, he was subjected to interrogation and was subsequently released by the occupation authorities after verifying that he had entered Al-Aqsa Mosque with the prior permission and approval of the officer in charge.
Self-Demolition and displacement of two families in Sur Baher
In Sur Baher, south of Jerusalem, the Dwayyat family had to demolish two of their homes themselves to bypass the demolition fees set by the occupation municipality.
The initial residence was owned by Jerusalemite Fayez Nimer Dwayyat and covered 65 square meters. He lived there with his wife and daughter. Built in 2018, he had accumulated fines and violations totaling over 80,000 shekels. The second residence belonged to his son, Muhammad Dwayat, and was 60 square meters, housing his wife and two children.
The act of self-demolition rendered both families homeless, including children, amid the continuous policy of demolitions and displacement affecting Palestinians in Jerusalem.
