Injuries and assaults during a demolition operation in Al-Tur
On Tuesday, several Palestinians in the town of al-Tur in Jerusalem were injured when Israeli forces attacked them during the demolition of parts of a residential building.
The demolition focused on what was left of the Abu Jum'a building, which included two apartments owned by brothers Nabil and Sami Abu Jum’a.
The Abu Jum'a family stated that their building was built in 2000. They spent years seeking a legal permit, repeatedly delaying and freezing demolition orders, while also paying fines and penalties.
The family mentioned that Israeli authorities had given them until June 26th to demolish the structure themselves, prompting them to start the self-demolition process. However, this morning, Israeli forces, together with municipal bulldozers and crews, raided the site and completed the demolition, destroying what was left of the building.
The family noted that legal proceedings are still ongoing and that the raid was conducted without any prior warning. During the operation, Israeli occupation forces assaulted family members, including women, young men, and the elderly, using violence and force.
A young man suffered an eye injury after being hit with a rifle butt. An elderly man was beaten on the legs with batons and suffered multiple bruises. Several women also sustained bruises and contusions during the assault. Additionally, children were traumatized by the attack and the demolition.
