Three Jerusalemite prisoners were placed under administrative detention, and a travel ban was renewed for a Jerusalemite woman
The Israeli occupation authorities are intensifying their actions against Palestinians in Jerusalem by increasing the use of administrative detention, renewing it repeatedly, and imposing restrictions on movement and travel. Recently, they renewed the detention of two Jerusalemite prisoners, transferred a third to administrative detention, and extended the travel ban on Jerusalemite activist Hanadi Halawani.
For the fifth time in a row, occupation authorities extended Sheikh Muhammad Saeed Sumrein's (55) administrative detention from Silwan, Jerusalem, for another four months.
Sumrein has been in detention since late 2024. He is a former prisoner who served 14 years in Israeli jails and has multiple health issues.
In the same context, authorities have renewed the administrative detention of Diaa Muhammad Nababta, 37, from Shu’fat refugee camp in Jerusalem, for the third time, just before his second extension expired.
Nababta was initially detained in August 2025 and has been held under administrative detention since then. His second detention period was set to end tomorrow, but the occupation authorities issued a new order to extend his detention by another six months.
The decision states that the new extension will start on August 14, 2026, and expire on February 13, 2027.
The occupation authorities transferred Jerusalemite prisoner Mahmoud al-Tiryaki to administrative detention for five months. He was arrested last July.
The Israeli Minister of Defense issues administrative detention orders and renewals without charging the detainee or holding a trial.
Travel Ban
In a separate issue, the occupation authorities issued a decision to renew Jerusalem-based activist Hanadi al-Halawani's travel ban for one month, with a potential extension of an additional six months, under the order of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
