Arrests, extensions of detention, and expulsions: Ongoing measures against Jerusalemites
October 4, 2026

Arrests and expulsion orders targeting Jerusalemites in Jerusalem and at Al-Aqsa Mosque continue, along with ongoing administrative detention orders, extensions of detention periods, and bans on entering the mosque.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center – Jerusalem reported that occupation authorities extended the administrative detention of Oraib Abu Khdeir, a young Jerusalemite from Shu'fat, for another six months. His administrative detention has been ongoing since September 20, 2025.

Abu Khdeir was first arrested on September 20, 2025, and placed in administrative detention for six months. His detention was renewed on March 20, 2026, for another six months, and again on September 23, 2026, for a further six months.

On September 30, 2026, the Supreme Court heard an appeal challenging the renewal decision. Days later, it rejected the appeal, leaving Abu Khdeir in administrative detention without formal charges.

Meanwhile, occupation authorities arrested several people in Jerusalem on Sunday. At dawn, forces raided the town of Al-Tur and arrested youths Yousef Al-Sayyad, Hashem Alqam, Ismail Al-Dayeh, and Ali Zamara. Their detention was then extended until the following Tuesday.

At Al-Aqsa Mosque, occupation forces arrested six Palestinians, following the arrest of five Palestinians at the mosque and nearby on Friday. One of those detained Friday was Khaled Abu Tayeh. He was later released on the condition that he appear for questioning on Sunday, but was then issued a one-week ban from Al-Aqsa Mosque, which may be renewed.

Thus, the pattern of arrests, extended detentions, and exclusion orders targeting Jerusalemites continues. Recent measures include arrests in and around Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as renewable exclusion orders against worshippers and those maintaining a presence at the site.
