Israeli police arrest 155 Palestinians holding West Bank ID cards in Beit Hanina
October 14, 2026

Israeli forces arrested 155 Palestinians holding "West Bank" identification cards during an operation in Beit Hanina, north of Jerusalem, alleging they had entered the city illegally.

In a statement, the police said the operation covered several complexes and areas in the town. Those arrested were taken for questioning ahead of their deportation to the West Bank. Police added that two other people were arrested on suspicion of harboring Palestinians who had entered Jerusalem without permits.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center-Jerusalem said the arrests are part of restrictions imposed by the occupation authorities on Palestinians entering Jerusalem from the West Bank, citing the absence of entry or residency permits. Tens of thousands of Palestinians are currently denied access to the city because they have not been issued the required entry permits.

Over the past three years, tens of thousands of Palestinians have been pursued and arrested for entering Jerusalem without permits. Some have been sent back to the West Bank, while others have been detained and charged. Others have been shot at while trying to reach the city, leaving some Palestinians martyred and others injured.

These measures continue amid ongoing restrictions on Palestinians’ movement between the West Bank and Jerusalem and intensified efforts to pursue workers and other Palestinians trying to reach the city, despite their being denied the permits required for entry.
