Pictures: Demolishing commercial and residential establishments in Beit Hanina and Jabal Al-Mukabber
The occupation municipality’s bulldozers demolished a mobile residential hoe while Obeidat and Abbasi families were forced to self-demolish their commercial and residential establishments following an order from the occupation court.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the occupation bulldozers demolished a mobile home owned by Majdi Idris in the neighborhood of Beit Hanina north of Jerusalem while Khader Obeidat self-demolished his commercial establishment in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber and Khalil Abbasi self-demolished his under-construction home in Silwan.
Silwan
The family of Khalil Abbasi “Abeesan” explained that the family was forced to self-demolish their under-construction home in the neighborhood of Ein Al-Lozeh in Silwan; they were given 24 hours to execute the demolition. The family pointed out that they stayed working until the early morning hours to demolish their 50-square meters home which is part of a residential building; the family started building at the beginning of the current year.
Abbasi family explained that the occupation forces raided their home three times in the last three days including a raid on Tuesday early morning to check if the demolition was executed.
Beit Hanina
Occupation bulldozers also demolished a mobile home “residential caravan” in the neighborhood of Ashqarya north of Jerusalem. The caravan is owned by Majdi Idris and was ready for moving-in.
Jamal Idris, Majdi’s father, explained that the mobile home was placed two months ago in which his son Majdi intended to move-in with his family of 4 individuals. He was surprised by the demolition operation that was carried out after raiding the home and emptying it from its contents when nobody was home.
Idris added that the occupation municipality’s crews preempted the date scheduled to execute the demolition as the family had 72 hours to head to court and file an extension but the bulldozers executed the demolition only 48 hours after the order was issued.
Idris explained that the family found a demolition order underneath their home one day prior to the demolition; the order was not hung or placed in a place where it could be clearly seen. The family immediately headed to the lawyer who told them they could postponed the demolition order within 72 hours. The lawyer was supposed to head to court in the morning but the occupation executed the order prior to that.
Jabal Al-Mukabber
Occupation forces surrounded a commercial establishment (cell-phone store) owned by Khader Obeidat in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber south of Jerusalem to demolish it.
Obeidat explained: “Large Israeli forces along with a bulldozer raided the commercial store after the Dawn Prayer. When I was heading home, I saw them and I asked them to allow me to empty my store. I brought a bulldozer myself and self-demolished the store in order not to cause any damage to the establishment adjacent to my store.”
He added: “the Israeli forces surrounded the area until the demolition was completed.”
He pointed out that his store has been established for 25 days and was built from bricks and cement. Two years ago, an administrative demolition order was issued against the store and was put on hold. The municipality then issued a new order two months ago and he was able to postpone it until 10/3/2016. He was waiting for the court’s decision in regards to the establishment and was surprised by the demolition.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that the occupation authorities demolished 6 establishments in the last two days in which five of them were residential. Three of the establishments were in Silwan, two in Jabal Al-Mukabber and one in Beit Hanina.
