Prison sentences…extensions of arrest…releases
The District and Magistrate judges sentenced several Jerusalemites and extended the arrest of others.
Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the Magistrate judge extended the arrest of Odai Issa Obeid, Mohammad Issa, Mohamamd Abu Nab, Mustafa Abu Qteish, Nour Shalabi and Mohammad Abu Hummos indefinitely and extended the arrest of 17-year old Mohammad Karslyeh until 22/7/2016 and Abed Abu Saymeh until completing the legal procedures against him, Mohammad Atyeh and Mohammad Suleiman until 21/7/2016, Mohammad Abu Ghannam and Ibrahim Abulhawa until 21/8/2016 and Mohammad Ammouri until 18/9/2016.
The judge also extended the arrest of Munir Mahmoud until 24/7/2016, Mohammad Shalabi until 25/7/2017 (witnesses hearing session), Mohammad Naser Mahmoud and Mohammad Omar Mahmoud until 24/7/2016, Abdullah Mustafa until 22/7/2016, Eyad Shalabi until 1/11/2016, Thaer Abu Seif until 28/9/2016 and Ahmad Burghal until 18/9/2016.
Lawyer Mahmoud added that the judge extended the arrest of Munir Mheisen, Adam Mahmoud, Qusai Dari, Anas Abu Asab, Daoud Atyeh, Ata Awadallah, Mohammad Jamal Mahmoud and Anwar Obeid until 21/7/2016, Mohammad Aweis until completing the legal procedures against him, Haitham Khweis and Odai Yousef and Fathi Dweik until 27/10/2016 and Baha’ Ajloni until 20/9/2016.
The judge also extended the arrest of Ali Abu Hussein until 24/7/2016, Rani Darwish until 10/10/2016, Ahmad Khalil until 1/11/2016, Hussam Zmourod until 27/7/2016, Sameh Najib and Salameh Obeid until 27/9/2016, Omar Abulhawa and Abdullah Abu Sbitan and Basem Sbitani and Siraj Sbitan until 30/10/2016 for sentencing, Fares Awadallah until 6/10/2016 and Omar Ishtay until 18/9/2016.
A hearing session was also held at the Supreme Court for the child Saleh Ishtay, Mohammad Tayeh, Murad Alqam, Omar Yassin, Zeid Tawil and Yazan Ayoub to discuss the appeal submitted by their lawyer against the prison sentence issued against them.
Prison sentences
On the other hand, the judge sentenced the child Mohamamd Burqan for 15 months of actual imprisonment and a suspended probation of 8 months for three years, and sentenced Mohammad Za’tari for 6 and a half months of actual imprisonment and a suspended probation of 6 months for two years on charges of incitement on Facebook.
Ajmad Abu Asab, head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee, explained that the District judge sentenced 18-year old Malek Ismaleel Shweiki for 4 years of actual imprisonment after convicting him of throwing Molotov Cocktails.
The District judge also sentenced 15-year old Adham Anwar “Mohammad Zaki” for 8 months in prison; Adham was arrested more than once and was detained for 3 months inside an internal institution in the city of Tamra in the 1948 lands. On 31/3/2016, he was transferred to Megiddo prison.
The District judge also sentenced 17-year old Nasim Amjad Nasim Mheisen from the village of Esawyeh for 28 months of actual imprisonment and imposed a 15-thousand NIS fine on him. Nasim was arrested on 7/12/2015 and was convicted of several charges. He is the brother of Jerusalemite prisoner Yazan Mheisen who is serving a 3-year prison sentence.
The 16-year old Ahmad Hussein Abbasi was also sentenced for 15 months of actual imprisonment.
On the other hand, the judge decided to release Mohammad Julani and Marwan Shami on condition of house-arrest for 5 days.
