Pictures- Silwan: Raiding commercial stores and houses…confiscating 5 vehicles…and arrests
In continuation to the collective punishment policy practiced against the locals of Silwan which started by arresting 33 Jerusalemites (12 minors) after Wednesday midnight, joint crews of occupation municipality and tax authorities supported by occupation forces raided the neighborhoods of Silwan and specifically targeted Ein Al-Lozeh.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that employees of the Israeli tax authority raided two homes in Ein Al-Lozeh; one of the houses is owned by Nader Abu Tayeh. The tax authority employees requested the owner to pay an amount of money under the pretext of “accumulation of unpaid debt to the Israeli department”.
Municipality crews also raided several commercial establishments in the area and deliberately provoked the owners by entering their stores and threatening to issue them fines under the pretext of displaying merchandise outside their stores or because their signs do not match the specifications required by the municipality. They issued a fine for a grocery store for displaying vegetables in front of his store; municipality crews also erased murals in the neighborhood of Ein Al-Lozeh.
They also confiscated 5 vehicles owned by residents in Silwan; three of them under the pretext of parking in “no park zones” and the rest under the pretext of accumulation of unpaid debt.
The occupation intelligence handed calls for interrogation to several young men.
The locals of Silwan explained that the occupation forces and intelligence personnel raided several houses in the early morning hours and searched them under the pretext of looking for “prohibited items.”
They also raided a grocery store owned by Mousa Abu Tayeh in Ein Al-Lozeh.
