October 12, 2016

Settlers protected by occupation forces raided on Wednesday night the house of Mahdi Abu Nijmeh in the neighborhood of Al-Thori in Silwan.

Abu Nijmeh explained that a group of settlers along with Israeli forces suddenly raided his house in a provocative way and attempted to assault the residents. Mosques in the area appealed for locals to help Abu Nijmeh family and young men quickly responded and confronted the settlers.

Occupation forces were stationed in Silwan at night when everything was shut down to mourn Martyr Ali Shyoukhi who passed away after being shot during clashes in Silwan.

Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the occupation forces were present in the areas of Al-Ein, Abbasyeh, Middle Neighborhood and Wad Al-Rababeh while young men closed some roads with stones.

Witnesses said that young men threw Molotov Cocktails towards a settlement outpost near the Middle Neighborhood in Silwan.

Esawyeh

The member of follow-up committee in the village of Esawyeh, Mohammad Abu Hummos, said that the occupation soldiers raided the village on Wednesday afternoon and fired sound grenades, rubber bullets and tear-gas canisters. During the Evening Prayer, they fired tear-gas canisters near Al-Arba’een Mosque in the middle of the village which led to the suffocation of several worshippers; they also surrounded Abu Ryaleh neighborhood in the village.

Part of the collective punishment policy practiced against Jerusalem, the occupation forces closed the main entrance of the village of Esawyeh with cement blocks under the pretext of throwing stones and Molotov Cocktails towards the street leading to Maale Adomim settlement.

Abu Hummos said that the entrance was closed on Tuesday because of “Yom Kippur” and was opened on Wednesday night for 20 minutes only before being closed again; the forces threatened to impose more sanctions on the locals.

Abu Hummos added that the forces arrested six young men from the village.

Wadi Hilweh Information Center’s lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, said that the detainees who were transferred for interrogation are: Ahmad Saleh Mohammad Mustafa (20), Mohammad Haitham Mustafa (14), Mohammad Baker Mustafa (18) and Mohamamd Adnan Mustafa (16).
