Ratifying a law to ban the “Call to Prayer” over loudspeakers
The Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislative Affairs ratifies on Sunday night a law to ban the “Call to Prayer” over loudspeakers in the city of Jerusalem and 1948 lands before presenting it to the Knesset.
The article was submitted by MP Motee Yogib from the Party of 'Jewish Home” as well as other MPs from the Right wing. They requested to ban the call to prayer over loudspeakers claiming that it disturbs Israeli citizens who suffer on a daily basis from the severe noise caused by the call to prayer in Mosques.
They said that the proposed law confirms that the freedom to worship may not be detrimental to the quality of life and they proposed not to use loudspeakers during the call to prayers.
The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu announced during the weekly session that he will support the new law that is being prepared by the Ministerial Committee for Legislative Affairs.
