After 11 months under house-arrest…sentencing a Jerusalemite woman for actual imprisonment and banning her from entering Jerusalem

The Magistrate judge sentenced on Thursday a Jerusalemite woman for 7 months of actual imprisonment and banned her from entering the city of Jerusalem for 3 years.

Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the Magistrate judge sentenced Shifa’ Obeido Shallodi for 7 months of actual imprisonment and a suspended probation of 5 months for three years on charges of attempting to assault policemen and illegal presence in the city of Jerusalem.

Shifa’ explained that she was arrested in October 2015 after raiding her house in Silwan. After 40 days in prison, she was released with a bail and house-arrest until completing the legal procedures against her. She was presented to the judge several times until she was sentenced to actual imprisonment.

She added that she holds a West Bank ID and has been living with her husband and four children in Jerusalem for 19 years under a “reunion” application. After arresting her, the reunion application was cancelled for security purposes and the court decided to ban her from entering the city of Jerusalem for three years after she is released from prison. In case she violates the orders and enter Jerusalem, she will be arrested and sent to prison.

Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that Shallodi was under house-arrest for 11 months and she will turn herself-in next month. Her son Fadi was also arrested and spent 7 months under house-arrest and was then arrested and jailed for 100 days. Her son Samer also spent 7 months under house-arrest.
