August 21, 2017

The public prosecution and Israeli police submitted on Monday their response to the Israeli Supreme Court regarding the urgent request submitted by the lawyer of prisoners’ affairs, Mohammad Mahmoud, where he requested not to transfer the bodies of Martyrs Fadi Qunbar and Musbah Abu Sbeih to the cemeteries of numbers.

The prosecution and police said that until now there is no official decision to transfer the Martyrs’ bodies to the cemeteries of numbers. In case there is such a decision there will be several procedures and the court and families’ lawyer will be informed before the decision is executed in order to have time to discuss it and object it if they choose to .

The prosecution said that what have been published were only press reports as the Israeli Minister of Defense, Avigdor Lieberman, had approved the request of the so-called Minister of Internal Security, Gilad Ardan, to bury the bodies of two Martyrs in the cemeteries of number and use this for negotiating with Hamas movement to take back the Israeli soldiers detained by them in Gaza strip.

The public prosecution also said that the issue of burying the two Martyrs will be discussed in the next hearing session at the Supreme Court on September 13th where they will explain to the court the stages the procedures have reached until then.
