Indictments against nine young men from Silwan including charges of forming a cell and planning attacks
The public prosecution filed on Wednesday indictments to the District Court in Jerusalem against nine young Jerusalemite men from the village of Silwan including charges of forming a cell and planning attacks against Israeli targets.
Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the prosecution filed indictments against Mohammad Farroukh (39) –head of the cell, Mohammad Mansour Abbasi (18), Saoud Alayan (18), Ahmad Abu Khalaf (18), Mohammad Abu Tayeh (18), Wael Alayan (18), Naji Odeh (17), Mohammad Farhat (17) and Mohammad Abu Sbeih.
Lawyer Mohamed Mahmoud added that the indictments submitted to the youths according to the anti-terrorism law, accusing them of planning to carry out an attempted murder, planning to kill, trying to cause injuries in aggravated circumstances, trying to cause fire and planning to carry out a shooting attack in Silwan against settlers. Some were also accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at settlers' vehicles, setting them on fire.
The lawyer also added that the judge extended the arrest until 30/10/2017.
It is noteworthy that the young men were arrested at the end of August 2017 and beginning of September 2017 after raiding and searching their homes in the village of Silwan. They were subject to harsh interrogation at Al-Maskobyeh cells and were prevented from meeting with their lawyer during the first detention period.
