January 30, 2018

The occupation municipality’s crews demolished last Tuesday several containers and commercial establishments in the village of Esawyeh following a series of arrests executed in the village.

The member of follow-up committee in the village of Esawyeh, Mohammed Abu Hummos, said that the Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by the municipality and the Nature and Parks Authority, carried out a large demolition campaign inside the village. They demolished and destroyed six "containers" belonging to a number of citizens and used as stores and restaurants for hot and cold drinks and sandwiches.

As for the area at risk of being confiscated in favor of "national parks" in the village, Abu Hummos explained that the bulldozers of the occupation demolished a farm and a wall, a car used as an office and a container, in addition to two other containers, two chicken coops and an agricultural room.

Abu Hummos pointed out that the occupation authorities raided several commercial establishments in the village and checked their documents.

They also raided a medical center in the village under the pretext of “checking one of its devices”.

The Israeli occupation forces confiscated several vehicles parked on both sides of the road in the village, while suspending the registration of about 20 vehicles under the pretext of mechanical failures after they stopped many vehicles and precisely checking them and the drivers’ identification.

The forces also stormed into butchery in the village and confiscated cartons of eggs and threw them into the garbage.

Abu Hummos also pointed out that the campaign against the village of Esawyeh began in the early morning hours by breaking into houses and executing arrests in addition to handing calls for interrogation to several young men. He said that the forces arrested nearly 40 Jerusalemites from the village.
