A self-demolition in Beit Hanina north of Jerusalem
Ayman Na'im Kawazba was forced to self-demolish his house in the neighborhood of Beit Hanina in Jerusalem, in order to avoid paying a fine to the Israeli municipality.
The family has been living in the house for eight years. The family and their six children have been living in the house for 10 years. Despite the family's attempt to issue a building permit and delay the demolition several times, the court issued a decision last week to demolish the house. If the family does not demolish it, they will have to pay the value of 40 thousand shekels for demolition costa and fees.
The area of the house is about 100 square meters, and the occupation authorities had imposed building violation fines on the family worth 36 thousand shekels in the past several years which was fully paid.
