Built 12 years ago…The occupation’s bulldozers demolish a house in Jabal Al-Mukabber
February 13, 2019

On Wednesday, the occupation municipality demolished a house belonging to Mohammed Obeidat, in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber in Jerusalem, under the pretext of building without a permit.

Mohammed Obeidat explained that the Israeli forces accompanied by bulldozers and municipal crews stormed his house and besieged and demolished it, without the presence of its residents.

Obeidat added that he built the house, which is about 65 square meters 12 years ago, and in 2016 the municipality issued a demolition order on the pretext of unauthorized construction. In the past months, he has been able to postpone the demolition several times and pay a building violation fee of NIS 120,000 in an attempt to license it but to no avail.

Obeidat said that the occupation municipality issued a demolition order for another house he owns in the village, which was built in 2005, and imposed building violation fees worth NIS 123 thousand, in addition to follow-ups and fees for the engineers and lawyers in an attempt to license it and avoid the demolition.
