Displacing 15 individuals- Two brothers self-demolish their homes
Two brothers self-demolished their homes in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber followingorders issued by the occupation municipality, in order to avoid paying “fines and demolition fees for the municipality’s crews and the accompanying forces.”
Wadi Hilweh Information Center stated that Mohammad Nassar and his brother Maher emptied the contents of their homes in Jabal Al-Mukabber village yesterday, and they started to self-demolish them, following an orderby the occupation municipality.
Maher Nassar said that the municipality had given him and his brother 24 hours to carry out the demolition of their homes, or they would be charged a fine for“the municipality's crews, forces, and bulldozers" at a value of NIS 80,000.
He added that they had built the two houses about 8 years ago, and a NIS 35,000 fine was imposed on them twoyears ago.
Maher Nassar added that the municipality had handed him a decision, two weeks ago, to demolish the two homes. He submitted an appeal to the municipality court and was able to freeze the decision until yesterday's session.
He continued: "During yesterday's session, the judge informed me of the final demolition decision and the necessity of implementing it within 24 hours."
Fifteen people lived in the two homes, including 11 children.
