On Monday, the Israeli occupation forces stormed 9 houses of Jerusalemite prisoners in the villages and neighborhoods of the city, and confiscated cash, money and vehicles from the freed prisoners and prisoners in the occupation prisons, under the pretext that they received money from "hostile entities", in reference to their salaries received from the Palestinian Authority.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center stated that the Israeli army minister, Naftali Bennett, issued a decision several weeks ago to cut the salaries of 9 Jerusalemite prisoners, on the pretext of "receiving monthly salaries from the Palestinian Authority, which encourages them to terrorism and carry out attacks", in the wake of monitoring prisoners' accounts led by the so-called "National Commission for an Economic War against Terrorism" in the Ministry of Security, the “Shabak”, the police, the prison authority, and the "Authority to Prevent Money Laundering" and other entities "as stated in Bennett’s resolution."
The occupation authorities began applying Minister Bennett’s decision. Recently, the released prisoners and some families of the prisoners were surprised when their bank accounts were suspended without knowing the reason. After examination, it was revealed that this comes after the decision to seize their money.
On Monday, the occupation forces stormed the homes of the prisoners whom the decision was issued against, and confiscated cash, gold, and a vehicle from them, and threatened to carry out other incursions in the event of non-payment of the required amounts. They also threatened to confiscate "home furniture, vehicles and electrical appliances."
According to what was reported by the residents to Wadi Hilweh Information Center, the houses were broken into after they were completely surrounded, and all the rooms and contents were searched, and the forces deliberately sabotaged the contents, and seized the money and jewelry, and even “coin banks” with little money were confiscated.
Through contacting the families of prisoners, Wadi Hilweh Information Center monitored the following:
1. Prisoner Mohammad Hamad from Shu’fat - serving a 7-year prison sentence - 22,500 shekels were seized, and gold worth about 70,000 shekels, knowing that the amount imposed on him was 37600 shekels.
2. The two captives, Wissam Kastiro who is sentenced to 10 years, and his brother Nour who is sentenced to 5 years - From Beit Hanina: 13,400 Shekels were seized, and gold worth 20,000 shekels, knowing that the amount imposed on them is 21,400 Shekels.
3. The freed prisoner Majdi Al-Abbasi from Silwan: 25,000 shekels were seized, noting that the amount imposed on him is 19,800 shekels.
4. The freed prisoner, Naji Odeh, from Silwan: 1000 shekels were seized, noting that the amount imposed on him is 17,000 shekels.
5. The released prisoner Basil Abu Tayeh from Silwan: 790 shekels were seized, noting that the amount imposed on him is 46,0000 shekels.
6. Released prisoner Ehab Bkeirat from the village of Sur Baher. His father’s car was confiscated, knowing that the amount imposed on him is 60,200 shekels.
7. Prisoner Khalil Al-Jayyousi from Al-Tur village whois sentenced to 6 and a half years in prison - 1000 shekels were seized, knowing that the amount imposed on him is 37,800 shekels.
8. Prisoner Malik Salman from Beit Safafa –sentenced for 10 years. His family's home was searched and vandalized, without any confiscation, because there was no money or gold in the possession of the family, knowing that the amount imposed on him is 12,400 shekels.
9. Prisoner Amir Farroukh from Silwan –not sentenced yet - his family's home was searched and vandalized, without any confiscation, because there was no money or jewelry in the possession of the family, knowing that the amount imposed on him is 18,700 shekels.
