The number of people infected with Corona virus increased in the city of Jerusalem during the past hours.

The Council of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites announced on Thursday evening, the extension of the suspension of worshipers' entry into Al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of Ramadan, in line with legal fatwas and medical advice that warn of large gatherings in light of the spread of the epidemic.

The 3 new cases are for children whose father had contracted the virus last Wednesday, and it was found that the infection was caused by contact with an infected person in Wadi Qaddoum neighborhood in Silwan.

The campaign added that the first infection in the village was a doctor working in a medical center outside the city of Jerusalem, and he took all necessary precautions since contact with one of the infected, and isolated himself from his family and others.

Mohammad Abu Al-Hummos, a member of the Follow-up Committee in the village of Issawiya, announced that two minors tested positive for the Corona virus in Issawiya.

In Silwan, Zaghal family announced that their son Ahmed was infected with the virus. Late on Thursday evening, the family conducted tests at Ein Al-Lozeh Medical Center and worked on isolating themselves.

In Al-Sowaneh neighborhood, east of the Old City of Jerusalem, local sources in the area announced that a young man had been infected with the virus, and asked all those who were in contact with him to take the test.

In the past few days, the Silwan Doctors Committee announced that more than 45 people from the town were infected with the virus, and the committee stressed the necessity of conducting the necessary tests to limit the spread of the virus.

The administration of Augusta Victoria Hospital announced that 5 elderly Jerusalemites were infected with the virus, and the infection was transferred to them from an elderly person, who did not show any symptoms of the virus. The hospital’s administration explained that the infected were transferred to St. Joseph and Hadassah hospitals.
