August 11, 2020

Last Tuesday, the Jerusalemite Aziz Alayan started to demolish part of his house in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber, south of Jerusalem, under the pretext of building without a permit.

Aziz Alayan explained to Wadi Hilweh Information Center that he started the day with the demolition of part of his house, according to a decision by the occupation municipality, which gave him until Saturday to carry out the demolition, otherwise its mechanisms will do so, and he must pay the demolition fee.

Alayan explained that the construction that will be demolished has an area of 100 square meters, which consists of 3 rooms, a balcony, and their utilities.

Alayan added that 10 years ago, he added an additional part to his house to expand it due to the lack of space for family members. A fine was imposed on him for "building without a permit" worth 22,000 shekels.

Alayan pointed out that the municipality, accompanied by policemen, broke into his house about two weeks ago, and informed him of the final demolition decision and gave him until mid-August to implement the decision.
