March 29, 2021

On Monday evening, the occupation authorities renewed the decision to prevent the Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Gheith, from entering the West Bank.

The decision comes two weeks after Gheithreceived decisions by the "commander of the home front in the occupation army," requiring renewal of house arrest in his place of residence in the town of Silwan, preventing him from being present and moving inside the city of Jerusalem except for his place of residence in the town, and renewing the non-direct and indirect contact with dozens of people headed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in addition to officials and field activists, and he recently received a decision to renew his ban from participating in events in Jerusalem.

The Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Gheith, said in a statement issued by the governorate: "Our people will remain steadfast as always and will continue to defend our land and defend their rights and sanctities."

He said: "All this targeting that he is personally exposed to is a drop in the sea of sacrifices for our people and the families of our martyrs and our prisoners, and God, the Jerusalemites, and all our people behind them, have pledged to continue work and stay on the same path that he, the martyrs, and prisoners follow."
