November 17, 2021

The 16-year-old boy, Omar Ibrahim Abu Asab, was shot dead by the occupation forces and a settler, in Al-Wad Street in the Old City of Jerusalem.

The Israeli police said in a statement: "The boy carried out a stabbing attack against members of the Border Police in Al-Wad Street."

The video recordings of the occupation police showed that one of the settlers, "a rabbi," shot the boy, coinciding with the firing of bullets from the occupation forces in the place, where Abu Asab was trapped in a corner and shot from close range.

After shooting at the boy, the occupation forces closed the Old City, set up checkpoints at all its gates, and deployed officers, intelligence and police forces in all streets and areas, during which they attacked those present, especially in the areas of Lions Gate, Damascus Gate and Herods Gate.

Arrests

The occupation forces arrested 4 boys after assaulting them. The lawyer of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, Firas Al-Jabrini, explained that the forces arrested: Mohammad Raed Ishtay, Hashem Ali Hassan, Yazan Zuhair Kaloti, and Malik Salaymeh.

Issawiya

The occupation forces and intelligence stormed the house of the martyr Abu Asab in the village of Issawiya, and arrested his parents and his brother Hassan. During that time, they imposed a siege on the martyr’s house, prevented the presence of people, except for its residents, and confiscated a computer - as reported by his family.

Lawyer Mohamed Mahmoud explained that the intelligence released the martyr’s parents and brother, after they were detained and interrogated at Al-Maskobiya police station.

Lawyer Mahmoud added that the police continue to detain the body of the martyr, the boy Abu Asab, and intend to conduct autopsy on it, and the lawyer will follow up on that tomorrow.

Lawyer Mahmoud said: "It was possible to control the boy without the need to shoot him - as the police recordings showed - but the orders allow the police to do so."

In the evening, clashes erupted between the occupation forces and the youths in Issawiya. The forces fired sound and gas bombs and rubber bullets from the entrances and outskirts of the village towards the streets and neighborhoods, while the youths closed the village's streets.

The Islamic and National Forces in Issawiya announced a comprehensive strike on Thursday, in mourning of the martyr Omar Abu Asab.
