Detainees' institutions: the occupation authorities arrested (607) Palestinians in August 2022
The Israeli occupation authorities arrested (607) Palestinians in August 2022, including (59) minors and (13) women, where the highest rate of arrests goes to the city of Jerusalem.
August witnessed an increase in violations and crimes committed by the occupation authorities, such as field executions, the policy of collective punishment and conducting organised arrests which have been accompanied by flagrant violations against detainees and their families.
Detainees' institutions and human rights organisations ( the Commission of Detainees' Affairs, the Palestinian Society Prisoner's Club, Addameer Association and Wadi Hilweh Information centre) pointed out that there are currently (4650) Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, including (32) women, (180) minors and (743) administrative detainees.
The highest rate of arrests have been recorded in Jerusalem with (148) cases , including (30) minors and (7) women, followed by Hebron with (118) cases and then Bethlehem with (96) cases.
(272) administrative detention orders have been issued on August, including (143) new orders and (129) extending orders.
The occupation authorities target former detainees by rearranging them and imprison them under the administrative detention
The Israeli forces launched a wide campaign last August against former detainees in various cities of the West Bank. This campaign came under the frame of collective punishment used lately by the occupation authorities in an intensive way, where the majority of detainees who got rearrested have been sentenced to administrative detention.
cases in point: the former detainee Asem Kaabi, who spent 18 years in prison, the former detainee Ahmad Remawi who spent 17 years in prison and the former detainee Bilal Kayed who spent 15 years.
The policy of administrative detention
The Israeli occupation authorities use the administrative detention as a firm and systematic policy against Palestinian people, where all categories of the society are included in this arbitrary policy.
Four children are still held under the administrative detention, and in the same context, four elderly people are currently held under administrative detention.
Cases in point: the occupation authorities arrested the (76-year-old) former detainee Jamal Alneser, who suffers from many health problems.
Another case in point is the (64-year-old) detainee Jamal Zaid, who has kidney failure and needs dialysis e times a week. He suspended the dialysis in a protest against his administrative detention, but the occupation authorities refused to release him and extended his sentence.
In the same context, the former detainee Abdulbaset Maatan has been rearrested, while he suffers from colon cancer and subjected to deliberate medical ignorance by the administration of prisons.
The occupation authorities launch a systematic campaign against human rights organisations in the West Bank
The campaign included 7 Palestinian organisations, (Addameer Association for human rights, Alhaq Defending Human Rights, Bisan Center for Research and Development, the Union of Agricultural work Committees, the Union of health Work Committees, the Union of Palestinian Women Committees, and the Defence for Children), where the Israeli authorities broke into the headquarters of those organisations and forced them to close.
This came under a systematic campaign under feeble excuses, which fall within the policy of collective punishment against Palestinian people.
Abusing minor detainees by Nahshon special forces
Many abusive acts have been observed lately by the Nahshon special forces against minor detainees held at Damoun and Megiddo prison.
According to minors' testimonies, it was reported that this unit, in cooperation with jailers, used to abuse and harass children during the process of inspection before transferring them to courts or other prisons.
Over the past few years, attacks by nahshon unit increased, where many detainees complained and said they were subjected to intensive beat and humiliation. This unit is mostly used for controlling prisons and imposing operations of abuse and torture against detainees.
The Israeli military and political orientation to avenge detainees
There is no doubt that the Israeli political and military levels seek always to avenge detainees, and deprive them of their basic rights.
A state of tension prevailed in most prisons last August due to the abusive measures conducted against detainees, especially detainees of high sentences and life imprisonment.
These actions forced detainees to form an emergency committee in preparation of resuming their struggling plan.
The plan includes rebellion against the laws of prisons' administration and starting a hunger strike, in case of resuming the punitive procedures against them.
During the last month, detainees impleme
