Pictures - Forcing the Abu Farha family to self-demolish their home in Silwan
The Abu Farha family self-demolished their house in Ras al-Amoud neighborhood in Silwan, under the pretext of building without a permit.
Salah Abu Farha explained that the house is under construction, and its area does not exceed 50 square meters. The family started building it 6 months ago, from "reinforced sheet metal, iron, and brick", due to the lack of housing in the family's apartments.
Abu Farha added that the municipality stormed the construction site several times during the past period, and demanded that they demolish the house with their own hands.
Abu Farha said: "We were forced to self-demolish the construction, in order to avoid paying financial fines, which are the municipality's demolition fees."
