Day 9: Al-Aqsa Flood Operation in Jerusalem
October 16, 2023

On the ninth day of “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation, the occupation forces continued their siege of the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the campaign of arrests and raids into towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem continued.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem explained that the forces continue to impose their siege on the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque, by placing iron barriers, deploying forces at all entrances, gates and roads, and imposing strict restrictions on entry into the Old City and Al-Aqsa.

The forces continue to prevent young men from entering the Old City and Al-Aqsa, while allowing a small number of women to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque, and elderly men are not exempt from restrictions by preventing some from entering, searching, and threatening.

Small numbers of elderly worshipers were able to perform prayers in Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the center noted that the forces are tightening their restrictions on the gates of the Old City in conjunction with the prayer times.

The occupation forces also continue to impose restrictions on entry procedures for funerals into Al-Aqsa, by examining death documents, and preventing young men participating in funerals from entering Al-Aqsa to perform funeral prayers.

130 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, during the morning and afternoon incursion periods.

The occupation forces continued to storm towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem, and in the morning hours, the forces placed cement cubes on the sidewalks of the entrances to several towns and streets in Jerusalem, including “Umm Tuba, Sur Baher, Shu’fat, and Issawiya.”

On Sunday, the forces stormed the home of the young man Alaa Jadallah in the village of Sur Baher, coinciding with the date of his “court hearing.”

The family of the young man Jadallah explained that the forces stormed the house under the pretext of searching it, and demolished the interior walls and ceilings of the house, using manual demolition tools. The family pointed out that the forces completely vandalized two rooms in the house and then withdrew from the place.

The family explained that their son was arrested last Tuesday, and his detention was extended twice, and a session was held for him today and extended until next Thursday.

In the afternoon, they also stormed the village of Jabal al-Mukabber, raided the Aweisat family’s home, and arrested their son Ahmed. During that time, the forces, while present and stationed in the streets of the town, threw gas and sound bombs.
