Day 62: Al-Aqsa Flood Operation in the city of Jerusalem
December 7, 2023

On the 62nd day of “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation, the settlers organized a march in the Jaffa Gate area, on the eve of Hanukkah, while the occupation forces deployed in the Damascus Gate area and the adjacent streets. The siege on Al-Aqsa Mosque continued, and the arrests and summonses of boys and young men continued as well.

The settlers' march

On Thursday evening, settlers organized a march in the Jaffa Gate area in the city of Jerusalem, and raised and chanted racist slogans demanding the imposition of full sovereignty over Al-Aqsa Mosque, the killing of Arabs, and not to free Palestinian prisoners. Among the slogans raised were: “Liberating the terrorists... a bloodbath, No to coexistence with the enemy…A bullet in the head of every terrorist.”

The march was planned to start from the Hebron Gate towards the New Gate, the Damascus Gate and its squares, passing through Al-Wad Street “along some of the gates of Al-Aqsa from the outside”, arriving at Al-Buraq Square, to light “the first candle of the Feast of Lights.”

The forces deployed along the “planned” march, and deployed in the Damascus Gate area and prevented the entry of residents of the Old City, placed iron barriers, and forced press crews to be present in a specific area. Immediately after approximately 150 settlers gathered in the Jaffa Gate area, the police prevented their advance towards the Damascus Gate, and the police said: “The participants violated the conditions of the march’s license in regards to chanting and raising slogans.”

The slogan of the march - according to the invitations published - was “that it is organized on the eve of the Eid of Lights, to demand the expulsion of the Endowments from Al-Aqsa, to allow storming Al-Aqsa at all times, to impose Israeli sovereignty over it, and to honor the dead soldiers.”

The siege of Al-Aqsa continues

While the strict siege on Al-Aqsa Mosque continued, the occupation forces deployed at all the gates and roads of Al-Aqsa, and prevented entry to it except for Islamic Endowments employees and the elderly, most of whom are residents of the Old City.

119 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, during the morning and afternoon raids, through the Dung Gate, while calls continue to organize collective raids on Al-Aqsa and perform rituals during the Festival of Lights “from Sunday to Thursday.”

Raids and arrests

The raids on towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem continued, and the forces carried out separate arrests from Sur Baher, Wadi al-Joz, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Jabal Al-Mukabber.

In the village of Sur Baher, where forces have been carrying out raids and deploying in the village since “last Thursday”, after the “Ramot” shooting operation carried out by the two brothers, Ibrahim and Murad Nimer, the police said that they arrested 19 people from the village, carried out raids and an inspection campaign, and also canceled the licenses of 37 vehicles.
