Day 232 Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
ءOn the 232nd day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", thousands of settlers invaded the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the evening hours to celebrate the “Torch Festival,” amidst the closure of a number of surrounding streets and roads, while the police continued to set up checkpoints in the city’s streets.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem explained that the main celebration of the “Torch Festival” was held this year in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the city of Jerusalem, “on the main street within two plots of land, one of which was confiscated under the pretext of ‘public benefit,’ and the second belongs to two Palestinian families.”
Thousands of settlers invaded the neighborhood and prayed at what is called “the grave of Simeon the just” in the neighborhood, in addition to gatherings of “prayers and dances” on the plot of land, and in front of the settlement outposts in the neighborhood.
The settlers danced, sang, and set fires in several areas in the neighborhood.
The forces closed several intersections and streets in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, placed iron barriers and barricades in the internal streets of the neighborhood, and prevented residents from parking their vehicles on the street “where the celebration took place.”
The occupation authorities had prepared the land by “installing terraces, lighting towers, and loudspeakers, and placing tents on the ground.” They also placed barricades and iron barriers in several areas in the neighborhood.
On the other hand, the forces arrested the two children, Ahmed Al-Masri and Ayman Al-Ajlouni, from the Herods Gate area, and the forces severely beat them.
Siraj Abu Arafeh, the lawyer of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, explained that the two children were transferred to the Al-Qishla Police Station in the Old City of Jerusalem, and after interrogation, they were released on the condition of house arrest for 5 days and payment of a bail of 1,500 shekels for each.
